The practice

Mr Cowan's waiting room Mr Cowan's practice is at 214 Great Portland Street, across the road from the Portland Hospital (see map). His rooms are away from the main hospital and provide privacy for his patients - particularly those attracting media attention.

Consultation rooms

His consulting rooms are on the third floor, and are reached by lift or stairs. The large waiting area is comfortable and private, and Mr Cowan's office is spacious, with an adjacent side room for examination, ultrasound scans and minor procedures.

Practice office

Mr Cowan’s secretaries and nurse are in his Practice Office next to his consulting room and they ensure smooth running of his practice. They handle all enquiries, and make booking for appointments and operations and insurance matters.

Telephone consultations

Telephone consultations can be arranged through the office (020 7390 8433). When a telephone consultation replaces a normal doctor/patient visit, it is charged at the same rate as a regular visit. Telephone consultations may be particularly appropriate for a follow up discussion about results. Telephone consultations should be booked with Mr Cowan’s office so that the time is entered in his diary.

Practice nurse

Mr Cowan’s Practice Nurse performs minor procedures such as removing stitches and giving injections. She also teaches patients to self administer injections. This may be particularly useful to IVF patients.
