He has been in private practice for 20 years. He provides the most up-to-date obstetric and gynaecological treatments. An unusual feature of his practice is that he provides continuity of care through infertility diagnosis and treatment to antenatal care and delivery.
Mr Cowan* mainly admits his patients to the Portland Hospital, but will use other private hospitals, such as the London Clinic and the Harley Street Clinic, when necessary. For patients needing assisted reproduction, Mr Cowan uses the Centre for Reproductive Medicine in London.
Infertility and miscarriage are his particular areas of expertise. Dick Cowan practises in vitro fertilisation (IVF), egg donation and many other treatments for infertility.

Dick Cowan was encouraged by patients to set up clinics for foreign nationals seeking obstetric and gynaecological treatments in London. He is medical director of the American Women's Health Centre (AWHC), Russian Women's Health Centre (RWHC) and Japanese Women's Health Centre (JWHC) in London.
